No more dieting.
When I said this to myself, it was like a sigh of relief. And then after I let go I learned what the best foods were for me, and that’s how I lost weight permanently.
What I learned over the years is that (a) a person’s nutritional needs are as unique as their genetic blueprint, and (b) it gives us a basis to move forward in learning how to practice intuitive eating for weight loss.
My experience of dieting for 30 years the only path to success in maintaining a healthy body weight is to ditch all the rules and to start practicing intuitive eating for weight loss, performance and overall function.
No more dieting. Ever Again!
Intuitive eating means learning to eat what you want to eat in the portions your body needs. It is the ability to discern what is actually “good for you” from what is good for your sense of pleasure, emotions or state of mind. It is the art of knowing how to fuel your body for your activities and optimize repair during sleep.
It is learning how to eat the way human beings were meant to: to live. Not the other way around.
When one eats intuitively they are energized, rejuvenated and maintain a healthy body weight.
It sounds like a tall order, a dream come true. Imagine eating foods that are delicious and satisfying, not craving “comfort foods” all while losing weight.
It’s totally possible for everyone to achieve this state of mind where “no more dieting” can become a reality.
The above is a graphic representing your plate. Start with dividing it into three parts: protein, complex carbs & vegetables.
Examples of protein include: fish, chicken, turkey, beef, bison, venison (any meat), beans & pulses.
The vegetable section should be obvious. Add enough fat to make them delicious for you.
Complex carbs include rice, bread, pasta, quinoa, potatoes and squash.
Fruit is missing from this equation but you can start with adding fruit at the end if you have a sweet tooth. Some people like to substitute the vegetable section for fruit in the morning.
But what about white bread? My answer to that is to forget all the rules, they are what got us into this paranoid state of mind to begin with.
Think about it: if you are on a path right now where you’re eating what you perceive to be “junk” do you really think it’s easy to overhaul your diet 100% with success? Does the “99% of all diets fail” statistic mean that rules work?
“No More Dieting” means allowing yourself to eat the foods your body craves
So take your one piece of bread or pasta, put it on your plate and relax.
Repeat this 3-5 times per day, and stop the moment you feel pressure on your stomach.
After a few weeks of blood sugar regulation and fat loss you’ll be able to further optimize this formula and experience greater success with intuitive eating for weight loss. Are you tired during the day? Maybe you need to increase your carbohydrates. Are you not satisfied with your meal even though your stomach feels “full”. Well then maybe you need to add in an extra spoon of olive oil or pat of butter to your vegetables.
You need to figure this out for you. As always, I’m here to offer tips from my own experience. I quit dieting a few years ago by using this method, no longer gain weight and have achieved a metabolism high enough to annihilate a dozen cookies and not think twice.
Not that I really ever need to do that. My cravings for empty-calorie foods are non-existent when I eat to fuel my body.
It can happen to you too. “No more dieting” can become your new mantra and you can enjoy all the freedom that comes with it!
